This is me, the storyteller

I got lucky.  I made a career out of telling other people's stories.  For more than 15 years, story-telling has been my bread and butter (and on exceptional days, my bacon).  I have made a decent living from crafting messages, bringing to life strategies borne out of challenges and dilemma's that line the path of companies, brands and individuals.

Some days have been great.  Other days have been so unnerving. No one quite knows my story, because I spend way too much time telling other people's stories, a classic case of #passion equating #paycheck.

The other night, I was story-telling: narrating to my little one how it was, growing up: how my mum ran a tight ship, and how I lived in perpetual fear of her rod - the rod she used liberally whenever her brood stepped out of line.  My little one laughed so hard, and it was his deep laughter that elicited my own laughter: for once, I was able to laugh at myself, my young self.

...not too sure where this narrative is going....but who says it has to go a certain route? The important thing here, a story teller took the first step to tell her story to the most important person in her life.

And her story made him smile.

Shallom.

  1. The rod, I think it was good for us. Sad that nowadays most parents choose dialogue

  2. Lovely! That rod of correction helped us a great deal. If done in love, it can play an important role in shaping our children’s character for today and the future.
